Delivering Course Content…

I am looking forward to including all these methods into my class.

Is there a particular order of the styles of deliverance that you should present your material in?

Is there a proven/successful order of events?

Hi Gloria,
I teach a 6 hour class from 4 until 10:00 pm so I have to plan small segments and change of pace as an integral part of my delivery. If I don't then the class is going to fall a part. With variety the evening goes much faster for the students as well so do all you can to introduce the plan you have for your class. I know you are going to have some very effective learning going on.

Wow, how about for a 6 hour class?? It's going to be really useful to organize lecture and varied activities into smaller bites of information. That's really helpful, to work with the time frame of the average attention span.

I feel that using power points keeps students focused on main issues and keeps students focused on course goals

Hi Francesca,
Good way to keep the focus of your students. A change of pace is a very effective way of keeping students engaged over a period of time like a 4 hour class.

Hi Warren,
Try to change the pace and flow of the class every 15-20 minutes. Have small group activities and Q&A sessions. Assign case studies and problem solving activities as much as is possible. Tactile activities are always good as they help the students to see application and relevancy to what they are studying.

i am constantly looking for new ways to make my delivery more interesting. If i am in the middle of a long but necessary lecture i will stop for a minute and tell a joke or short story (relevant to the topic or maybe not!). when i think i have their attention again i continue with the lecture, making sure that i do not drag it out.
