Offering Varied Instructional delivey

I try to use different learning styles: written, auditory, visualization and tactile as I teach. It does help the students to have a power point prior to the class so that they don't have to keep taking down notes. This will let them focus more on the lecture.

Hi Vicki,
A simple but very effective way to keep your finger on the pulse of the class. This also lets the students know you care about them as individuals.

I learned something from a fellow instructor I'd like to share. At the end of the day ask your students one-by-one before leaving the classroom....What did you learn today? Sometimes the answers are astonishing. It's a great way to sum up the days events as well as the knowledge the students retained.

I have sometimes used movies and met the learning objectives better than that could be acheived through lecture alone.

Varying the instructional delivery will keep the students interest while meeting the outcomes required. I like educating through entertainment and have used a special term called "edutain" for that style.

Hi, Marie,

I like note-taking because it forces the students to interact with the course content and I like your idea of having the power point presentation before the lecture in stead of during the lecture so the students can take notes while they gather information visually rather than while they are trying to listen.
