THEY teach me how to teach them

I have learned through experience that my student have a lot to do with what type of instructor I am going to be for them.

After observing students during the first day of a course and solidifying of observations after the first quiz, I quickly develop a strategy of how my course delivery will be.

It's true as said before that staying present to the class and flexible is the key for overall success. I find it valuable to just ask the class early upon arriving how they feel and get some interaction going. Some people are tired or happy to be here. I ask a few questions to see who is engaged and when the students respond I listen intently to their responses and give them my undivided attention. The tone of their responses usually tells me something about how they are feeling at the moment. It's good every now and then to not be afraid to ask early in the class what method they prefer by a show of hands. Sometimes it's just as simple as asking for their guidance so you can be a better guide to them in the long run.

Completely agree. You have to stay flexible and be there for the students when you know certain ones require more one-on-one time.

I think it is very important to know your students and what is best way of teaching so that they all comprehend and feel comfortable with what they are learning

I use this strategy also. You can easily tell on the first day of class what type of students you have. Next step is to identify their learning styles.

Its good to use teaching methods which seems to get better student interactions, but be carefull not to keep it one track. The different strategies you use the more you increase the students ability to connect with what your teaching.
