What to do when there's no disipline in class/school
from day #1 there is no consistency is school rules or polices
Hi Dennis,
Good point and in most cases the situation works out for the better. If not then it is travel time because I believe life is too short to be in a state of frustration due to circumstances beyond my control.

Hi Blake,
This is a tough situation to be in. When I faced such a situation I knew it was time for me to move on because I was not going to work in a situation where I did not have respect nor support. I went down the road and found a wonderful place to teach while enjoying support from both the students and administration.
Gary
I address the students that there are policies in place this type behavior and hopefully we will not have to go down that road
I agree with you, however, when we are at a proprietary school, where students are forking out some serious cash, what do you do if your students do not have any manners and are creating problems. You cannot kick them out everyday can you. What happens when administration will not back you, they are always letting things slide?
Hi Lorraine,
By having this information your students can get settled into the course and start to figure out their strategy for being successful.
Gary
Students must know the policies and regulations on the first day. It must be clear to them what the outcome will be if those rules are broken.
Hi Rachel,
Good point. This is why consistency needs to be a part of how instructors operate. This way at least the students know that the expectations will remain the same for the course.
Gary
The only thing to do here is to have your own expectations set, then adapt as needed as policies change...
