Demonstration

I try to encorporate audio/visual aids in each course.

I do as well... and even lab experiments when I can

I try to develop my own demonstration devices and materials. Our physics text was weak on Doppler effect, so I had my grandson tape record the sound of my car's horn as I drove past at 40 mph. When I played the tape in class, the students were intrigued by the idea that my grandson was willing to help with this experiment. Our discussion and application of the Doppler formula followed naturally. The students were able to answer test questions correctly.

Hi Sandra,
Good point. We need to let our college and tech people know that unless they transfer our older media forms to current media format we still need our older VCRs and overhead projectors.

So do I. But this can be expensive. When my school purchased the latest technology, they got rid of everything else; no one realized that I had valuable videos and cassette recordings that are now, in effect, worthless. I can bring my own cassette player to the classroom, but I can't bring a TV and VCR.

I teach ultrasound classes so it is an easy and effective to incorporate demonstration of scanning techniques and review of sonographic anatomy
