Preparation for the Class
I think it is very important to prepare for the class and spend time developing materials prior to all our classes.
Write the lesson plan. Practice the lecture and remember your content cues. Video tape your lectures and have someone else critique it. Do not read the lectures. The students will know if you have not prepared for the lesson. You cannot hide it from them.
I completely whole hardily agree with you Pearl. Allotting adequate class preparation time will ensure quality content delivery.
Hi Edward,
Thank you for sharing this perspective on preparation. I wish more instructors would follow this model. By knowing your material ahead of time you can do just what you are doing and bring in the most current information as the class is being taught. This is a win win for everyone.

I find it more effective to develop the presentation elements of the class very safely ahead of the class and then hunt down a current event issue a couple of days before the class lecture to use as a pointed example.
