what can we do to linger the attention span for an adult student?
I agree in regards to the cell phones. Even with adult learners, you would be surprised how many keep their cell phones on during class. Our Institute does not allow cell phones in the building. And, if they are on, I, personally, give out a violation to the student. After three violations, they are suspended.

Be dynamic in our delivery, offer a variety of learning opportunities, use different learning modes and bring in applications of content and you will be able to expand the attention span.
