Am I a scholar, a writer, an entertainer, a comedian or instructor??

I liked this phrase in the text! it pretty tiring task to gain the attention of your students for 2 hour lecture, I hope that one of my students would answer this question in behalf of me!! I believe that I should be all of the above at the same time, especially when it come to the entertainer part! I through jokes that are relevant to the class talk about movies that are relevant to the subject, and then return to main subject, I think this alteration between being serious and being funny would give the student a mind break

I too feel I am required to fill all these roles and it makes it just as much fun for me as the students. I like to be spontaneous and ad- lib and who doesn't like a good animal story?

Priscilla,
Good to be all of those because they are all needed to capture and keep the attention of students. By adapting as you mention you will be able to earn their respect and keep them engaged.

I think I am the poet, entertainer, story teller and the instructor. You must be creative, and assess each class and meet them where they are. They are all different and you must adapt to keep the class involved.

Ehab,
Based upon your comments your a a little of all three titles listed in your Forum title. A blend of these four help to keep the students engaged.
