How to keep students focused
Process of attraction of students the course material
Scott,
That is for sure. I need for someone to help me with my 401K in relation to the economy. Current events help make subject matter come alive.

The "real world' is a great source of topics and issues that can easily be used in classroom discussions. The economy has given endless topics to be discussed in my business classes- as they relate to the various topics we discuss and study.
Great point, Darlene. When you can share real-life relevant experiences with students it not only helps them to better understand the material, but it also keeps them interested. In addition, having them share any of their experiences that relate to the subject matter is another great way of keeping them focused.
I completely agree. The more relevant we can make the material, the deeper the understanding will be for students. I always try to incorpoarte my own life experience with the material I am covering. This usually begins the connection process for students and it usually turns into a very meaningful class experience for me and the students.
By bringing real-world experiences and applying it to the course material it keeps my studenst attention and spurs feedback dialect.
