How would you handle three different levels of students in one rotati?
In the clinical sitting when students taking their practical rotation in hospital I give different patients to different students according their academic level and discus the problems as diagnosis
lab data and different approaches to diagnose and chose a correct treatment for them.
Sue,
Good approach to engaging all students in the class no matter how long they have been in the program. The sharing between the experienced and new students is an important part of their career development. Glad to see that it is working successfully for you.

I teach in a modular setting so at any time I could have a student who just entered my program, several in middle mods as well as students who are ready to go out on an extern site. I make sure that the "newbies" know that these other students have been where they are and that eventually they will know as much as the "seniors" do. I ask continuing students to mentor the new students - help them organize to keep track of homework, typing assignments etc. At times I have them present part of the topic after they have researched and prepared a PP for that topic. Gives the new ones a new voice and perspective and the experienced students an opportunity to see what is it like to present to peers. I always monitor and add any vital details missed so everyone learns what they need to know.
Larry,
This is a practical way of helping students to make application of what they are being taught. This shows them relevance and value in relation to their learning opportunities.

Our program in most cases allows the instructor to assign a student to a case they may be weak in. This helps balance out their experience and education
