Delivering Course Content
I believe that it helps to give the students an overview of the course by reviewing the syllabus.
As well, a well designed syllabus witha ditional material for the classes is a must have for the students and for the instructors as well
I believe that delivering course content based on the lesson plan and syllabus will minimize distractions from students and at the same time it will guide the instructor on when to do a super class and when to turn it into a mini class for much retention.
Robert,
I agree with you about the additional buy in that comes from a well prepared and well explained syllabus. Thanks for sharing these points with us.

I feel that delivering the course content is a part of the lesson plan that i like to rehearse prior to class just like the rest of my class activities. If you simply make copies of the syllibus and then distribute it and read it word for word along with them crerates boredom.
If you introduce it as a roadmap or a preview of all the great things that they will see, learn or do,in a animated verbal sense you create more excitment. Ten distribute the material and speak as to what the expectations and outcomes are. I have found this has a much better "buy-in" and student refer to the syllibus more often
I completely agree. The syllabus truly is a "must have".
I agree and I think we should consider this to be an "unwritten" must when beginning a new class.
Vera,
This is a good point for instructors to remember when they are teaching in such a format.

This is true for a traditional learning environment however, in a non-traditional, eLearning environment, posting such in various applicable areas would serve as a reminder for students throughout the course.
Once posted, students tend to only 'go to' what is required, and/or due for that moment. However, making a constant connection, and reference to specific content, based on each weeks' lesson, will help keep student engaged with course content throughout the semester.
Covering the course content in a syllabus for their information of the course is good, delivering that content with knowledge and excitment is enduring.
Agreed. It also gives them an idea of what will be involved during their course of study.
