Lecture

15-18 minutes, the mini lectures, I like this. Then do something different like a group project/discussion? Then come back to lecture? I have so much to do in one day, I feel that if I don't stay focused-- will not be able to give all the pertinent information that needs to be heard.

Kathleen,
The activities between the mini-lectures don't need to be very long or complex. Just pausing and asking a question, or having a couple of students explain a concept is enough. The activity can be 2-3 minutes long. This is enough time to enable the students to reset their brains and be ready to get back to the lecture. You can use the longer activities such as case studies or small groups when you want to discuss in-depth a topic or concept.
