Providing Students with Notes

I decided to provide my students with my notes after the lecture and I encourage them to review said notes, along with their own notes, immediately after class so as to retain as much as possible from the lecture.

Eric,
Good plan. Something else you may want to try is to provide guided notes. Guided notes are an outline of the lecture with the key concepts and topics listed. As the lecture progresses the students fill in the blanks you have provided and this way they know they have got the key concepts listed. By having the guided notes they can focus more on what is being covered in class and be more available when discussion time comes up.
