Students attention span

Make sure the student are focus on the ccntent if not make them do something they enjoy to encourage learning....

Everett,
This is a good strategy to use. The timer keeps everyone on their toes in terms of moving from one delivery format to another so the students remain active learners for the duration of the class.

Something I've just tried with my class:

Set a 15 minute timer, when it goes off, have a quick question/answer session about the content that was covered. The students learn to pay attention (and really pay attention) for the 15 minutes and they'll be able to use the information they've learned immediately.

Its also a good way to see if the information covered during the 15 minutes actually got through to the students.

Alecia,
Thanks for that feedback. It is a good way to keep the students engaged and on target for the duration of the class.

I really like the idea of changing how we unpack content every 15 minutes. This method has truly worked for me.

By varying the instructional delivery method it should be fairly easy to find a style of instruction that the students will enjoy.
