Learning styles
I teach a fundamental English class and teach them study skills. I have them do an assessment on learning styles, Multiple Intelligence, and a personality test.
These tests seem to be pretty accurate and tell me a lot about each student. I then have them summarize the results for me.
HI RENEE,
WILL YOU GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION ON WHAT YOU GIVE TO YOUR STUDENTS?
I AM INTERESTED IN FINDING OUTB MORE ABOUT MY LEARNING STYLES.
From these assessments you state that you can tell a lot about each student and their learning style. I haven't been in the classroom for many yeats, can you elaborate?
I always utilize this technique during lecture, and power point presentations. I believe that it is imperative to utilize "Real World" application to theories, and topics of discussion so the learner can assimilate the importance of the subject matter.
I have found as I recognize the level of interest within the student body, concerning the material, that if I interject things of interest related to the subject it becomes easier for them to grasp as they simplify what is being taught.
If you mix up the lesson for all types of learners, it not only keeps everyone involved it also makes it more interesting for the instructor.
