How I try to deliver the info
I try to cover all of these methods. I will read the Power points to my students as well as make additional notes and drawings of visual aides on the white board as I lecture, I will also pass around visual aides as I talk about them during a lecture. Then usually we as a class will head to the lab where I can do instructor led demo's on the information I have covered to give the students a chance to see what we discussed in the classroom live. It also find this to be the best time for students to practice doing the tasks themselves while I am there and they can receive additional input if need be on the task.
Before, starting the power point presentation I like to give them a packet to go along with it but I leave blanks in it so as they follow along and participate they fill in the blanks.
My approach is similar, power point with as much hands on as possible with information will allow. It is indeed quite a mix on different learning styles.
I try to do a short lecture with only visuals as a powerpoint with hard parts as pass arounds to touch and see then we follow the lecture with a short hands on ttask to back up what we just covered.
I start out first with the power points, I also email them to the students through the portal, talk to them during the demo, about my experiences and I will show them videos relating to the course subject. I also have them do a project relating to the course, save the ones that are in power point and notebooks form and then show to the students.
First I use the dual approach. Mainly auditory (lecture) and visual (board and powerpoint) first. Then we use actual hands on applications together at an assigned time in summary.
