Hands on

I have noticed that performing demonstrations then having the students performing the action encompasses several of the learning methods. First putting the directions on the board helps the written person, performing the action is for the visual and auditory, then having them perform it covers the kinesthetic person or hands on person.

Hi Jimmy - Welcome to ED 103! Having your students apply what they have learned from your lecture immediately is ideal! It gives you an ASAP picture of what they got or did not.Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan

Most of the students that I have in my classes are kinesthetic learners. It works best for me if I have the students go to the lab area and do some hands on with the subject material that I just covered. It helps not only with the lab grades but their test scores.

HI Catherine- Welcome to ED 103! You describe instruction that addresses several learning styles and allows the students to demonstrate that they can apply the skill. Great job!

Brian,

That is a great observation. I always write the directions and the markers I am using on the board, then I show them a finished rendered piece, then I have them gather around and watch be demo the piece. When I have concluded the demo, they recreate it themselves. Everyone seems to fully understand what to do, and they seem to enjoy doing the exercise.

Fortunately for me, our instruction begins with theory and ends with lab. Hands on in the classroom with lecture also assists in helping prepare for the complete course.

I could not agree more. If you put a video and also do a demo they get a chance to compare difrent stiles and creat their stile

sounds like the perfect way to cover all bases.

Brian i could not agree more.with the type of training that we do giving directions for all the deferent types of learners, is key to there learning

An excellent observation, Brian!
