New Was Of Presenting Information

I like teaching using as many of the styles that I can during the class. My problem is that after a few months I lose interest in the formats that I have been using. Where can I find information on how to present the information without boring the students or myself?

Have you tried putting your students in groups and giving them case studies to work on? Have them apply the legal or ethical standards they are studying. Then, have them explain their reasoning.

I teach business law and taught it the way I was taught in law school. Lecture and the socratic method. As you can imagine, that didn't work with business students.

Since then, I teach the course using lecture, examples, diagrams, asking if there are questions during the lecture and finally asking questions to assess their understanding. When I ask for responses to my questions, they stare at me like I was speaking gibberish. I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me?

Thanks William for the link to a terrific website! Although "Education World" seems to be geared to the K-12 arena, I found quite a bit of info that can be used by us post-secondary folks. Here's the link - http://www.education-world.com/

Where else..the internet. There are many educator forums and websites targeted at getting the most out of an educational experience. Many of the sites appear to be targeted to the lower grades, but if you dig you can find links aimed at post high school education. Do a search for 'Education World'(my favorite) they offer reviews on books to help instructors/teachers "think out of the box." Good luck
