All four major styles
It is of great help if all the students know and understand not only their own style of learning but the other three styles also. Because all of the styles are addressed the students must understand that their style is not exclusive and therefore they must be tolerant of presentations that are not in their style.
I agree. I think all styles should be utilized when teaching the students. A specific style will help specific students with learning the material; and the additional styles will help to reinforce the material allowing for students to look at it from another angle maximizing their retention.
Don't forget about the student that has more than one learning style, and they might not even
know.
John, I agree that we must understand all four teaching concepts. We may not be able to fully utilize one technique but rather a combination of all of them. That way it should appeal to all of the students. The classroom is very dynamic and is constantly changing, therefore so should out teaching styles. Good post.
As an instructor I try to present every piece of material using all four learning styles. The trick is to not make it appear as you are trying to touch on all four styles when discussing each topic, or it just seems overly repetitive to the students.
Varying your instructional delivery and assessment methods to cover all the four learning styles of students in a fixed time frame is the real challenge.
The ideal way of preseting material is to try to include the styles. For example, a PPT can include an audio clip while a model is being passed around to examine.
