With diversity, comes the challenge of teaching.
Understanding the students preference greatly
helps the instructor to best send the message.
Hi Alisa- Welcome to ED 103! This course discusses diversity in learning styles but as you mention there are many other aspects to diversity. I think that in my career the most frequent one I encounter is age diversity. I have had classes with 18 year olds along with 60 year olds. It is a real challenge! Best wishes - Susan
I think all too frequently, teachers revert to their preferred teaching style when dealing with diverse groups of leaners. Diversity can refer to learning styles, background, ethnicity, etc. Too frequently, the more variables a instructor has to deal with, the less likely they are to adapt to the student's preferred learning because it may feel overwhelming. How have others handled this?
