Learning styles

Adapting to learning styles of the students will win buy in from the students that would ordinarily struggle. This will contribute to class control.

I believe a well rounded Instructor would know the different learning styles of each an every student. At that time the Instructor should adapt the lesson plan on every learning style so he/she can reach out to all the students.

I agree, it is important to understand each students learning style, I find that hands on works best in the courses that I teach.

Hi Kevin- Welcome to ED 10! You make a good point. If you are not reaching your students what's the point of teaching? Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan

A good instructor will pick-up on the different learning styles of each student in a short amount of time. Then they can adapt their lesson plan to touch on every style of learning as they go through the presentation. This takes longer to go thru the lesson but if the students don't understand it in the first place, what have you achieved?

I tend to teach more to the "hands on learners" due to me being one myself.

Hi Charlene - Welcome to ED 103! The description of how you run your classroom is the perfect depiction of teaching to the learning styles! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

Being in tune with each student's learning style allows the instructor to adapt lessons accordingly. My students respond well to a varied approach in learning/teaching: By incorporating audio, visual, written and kinesthetic teaching approaches regularly, my classroom results have shown (via test and quiz scores) consistency in information learned and retained. Classroom control is less of an issue when students are challenged and their learning styles are accommodated.
