Assessing Learning Styles

How many instructors use or have access to "learning Style Assessments"?

Our business college has instituted a course in which learning styles are assessed along with teaching the new students good study habits and techniques. I think it's extremely helpful!!

Hi Brian - Thanks for your post to the forum. I think you are asking for an assessment to determine the learning styles of your students. here's on that you can use.

Best wishes as you embark on your teaching career!! Susan

I am a new instructor starting my first class in a few days and I feel that a learning assessment would be helpful to me. Do you know of a good resource for a learning assessment quiz?

Hi Julie - Thanks for your post to the forum and sharing the information about that book. I will have to check it out! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

At our school, we have an initial course that all students take for professional development and there is a learning style assessment right in the textbook. The book is called "Cornerstone: Discovering your Potential, Learning Actively and Living Well."

Hi Lu- Those "Orientation Courses" should definitely include all of the elements that you mentioned. Students are often resistant to these courses but they are very worthwhile. Best wishes- Susan
