I try and do a variety of styles with each topic during the lecture I will use a powerpoint, I will show a hands on example if possiable.I think this helps each type of learner.

In thinking about how the students react in class to different things I do I now realize this is manifested by their learning styles. Some students are very excited by pass around parts and the trainers in the classroom while others pay close attention while I lecture and others dont hear what I say but can tell me what the course book says. This has made me aware that I need to continue using all of my available resources during class to make sure that every student gets what they need to learn as much as possible during class.

In one HR course I teach, I use topical videos of corporations relative to the course material that day, as well as clips from famous movies to illustrate the idea. Most of my interaction with the class is via dialogue rather than lecture and I write many of the class comments on the board. I also use testing instruments such as a learning modality test which is the subject of this corse.

Hi Sean- Absolutely! Create a classroom that can provide video/graphics, use hands-on demos/projects, use powerpoints and handouts. all of this takes some work but it really is worthwhile! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
