Not all learning can be strictly hands-on, however. I teach law. Lecture is necessary to get general information across. Research and writing exercises can be done later, after the required background information has been presented.

Being a tactile learner myself I totally agree with you.
Thats sometimes the hard part, especially when I myself am a tactile learner. Give me an object to dissect, no instructions and let me at it. I can't sit an listen, or read things to learn. I learn by doing.
