Teaching Styles
At which point do you incorporate all of the various teaching styles? Or do you divide them equally?
Hi Victor-Thanks for your post to the forum. Using PowerPoint to facilitate classroom is an excellent strategy! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
This Style seems to work with many students. Many students are visual learners. I tend to use Power Point and discuss each topic in as much detail as posible. Then have an interaction among each other.
Various teaching styles should always be divided. Every class is built up of different individuals and their learning styles as well. If the instructor focuses on one learning style, other styles will be neglected. Therefore, the class as a whole will not have a fair chance at learning.
Hi Jennifer - thanks for your post to the forum. You are doing a great job of teaching to the learning styles! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I'm very lucky because I get to teach topics that lend themselves very well to all learning styles. I use a hands-on lecture where students get to see the work, hear the work, read the work in their text, and perform the work all at one time. It's not always possible to do this for every topic, but I work very hard to incorporate as many styles as I can at any given time.
Hi Michelle - Good question! I try my best to use every delivery style in every lesson. So, for example, in a typical lesson I will lecture, show some relevant video clips and also have some sort of hands on or "out of their seats" activity. Realistically I don't get all of this in every lesson but I really try to do so! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I do a very interacitve lecture, let the students to engage in the conversation. Then we a related video and then work on the excerices and workbook assignments.
