Kinesthetic Learners
I believe that this issue does arise, but gets swept under the metaphorical rug. Our students are primarily those entering the medical field, so they often times assume that they are kinesthetic in nature. IS this assumption a problem, or should we as instructors promote it?
I am a medical instructor, and I do believe that most of my students believe that they are kinesthetic in nature as well. I have created a daily plan to tap into every learning style. Before I have my student demo and/or perform a procedure, I perform visual, written, and auditory teaching methods to explain and watch the procedure prior to the performance. I have noticed with all the different methods of explanation, they normally do very weel when they do finally make it to the performance portion.
Hi Nathan, Thanks dor your post to the forum. No, I would not just assume they were all kinesthetic, as I doubt that is the case. Have them all take a learning styles inventory. they will be surprised! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
