Learning Styles
Most students fail because some instructors fail to recognise that students have different learning styles. I have a nagging question about how to handle a situation where a student is listening to music (Ipod) while attending lecture. Is that an acceptable learning style?
we have that no electronic policy at our school. yet still you have to be carefull about enforcing it because that individual student could mentaly shut down for the day.
You could implement a no electronical devices policy. That might help. Because it is a distraction to other students as well
Hi Samuel, Thanks for your post to the forum. Good question! No, since the purpose of attending a lecture is to "listen' to the lecture I would say no. However, if attendance is manadatory and the lecture is archived so that students can listen to it at a later date, it gets a bit murkier. Perhaps the student finds it difficult to absorb material at that time of day or in a crowded classroom. Still I think it boils down to a question of respect for the instructor. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
