using alternative assesments
using hands on techniques allow me as an istructor to teach things clearly in a way that my students can understand it.
When I worked as a special education teacher, I needed to use alternative assessments all of the time. The students I worked with all had different ways to learn and remember information. What I did a lot was use both visual and kinesthetic learning methods because with the type of students I worked with, this was the easiest way for these students to remember information from day to day.
Hi Adam, Thanks for sharing a very creative idea! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan

I am an English instructor. One hands-on activity that I have done was printing off a four-part poem and cutting it apart and asking students to put together the poem together. While the activity may not have been a game-changer, I did notice students congregating and interacting in a way that I didn't expect -- and it was because I tried to use the kinesthetic method.
