Understanding learning styles

I try to observe how the students respond to different ways I give them the material in the course. This helps me to identify their learning styles and adjust as needed. Does this work for some of you guys, or do you do it this way?

I attempt to tie the lecture in with the training aids. It will bring to life the book material to hands on. Working in a technical school this method seem to work for me.

Getting to know the student's learning style can challenging. As I assess the studen'ts learning style, by providing various methods of teaching, a student who may seem to be a visual learner during one class peroid seems to be a different learner at a different time. I am still working on balancing the need of various learners, which is an ongoing process.

Hi Stanley, Thanks for your post to the forum. There are online and paper surveys of learning styles that we can use, but if the class is small, I also use mostly observation. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.
