Learning styles
The instructor needs to incorporate all of the learning styles in order to reach all students especially in the trades field. The instructor needs to draw in the students from different learning styles so that they become more proficient.
Hi Anthony, Thanks for your post to the forum. I think its a great idea to give students powerpoints in advance. It gives students to have an idea of what will be discussed and to formulate questions in advance. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

As an automotive instructor in our school we use power points during our lecture. At the beginning of the course I give each student a copy of the power points, but I have modified them to have lines next to each power point so the student can write their own personal comments next to the power points as I discuss the bullet points that pertain to the power point. In doing this I believe that I am teaching to three of the four learning styles. Written, visual and auditory. As for the kinesthetic learner, if I have a part that will match the power point that we are discussing I will pass it around the class. If not the kinesthetic learner will have to wait till we get into the lab or the shop before they can touch and feel the part for it to make more sense to them.
