Exciting Ways to Build a Creative Learning Environment
What exercises have you done to promote a creative learning environment?
Although seems easy at first. I have been trying to combine the styles in my anatomy and physiology class. In EMT school the entire course was laid out as a 'See one, Do one, Teach one' model which takes all four aspects of the learning preference theory.
I am able to take a box of bones, put it together while explaining what I am doing and then have the student repeat as best as possible. Then I have them 'teach' each other the process. I have found that the kinesthetic learners seem to have the most gain but also the most challenges in the class room...
Hi David, Thanks for your post to the forum. I completely agree - how boring to sit in the same place in the same setting for hours and hours! As you state the changes need not be major. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I have found that the simplest manipulation of the class environment can reenergize and refocus students. Posters, music or rearranging the seating can be fun and especially helpful when presenting new material... Regards, Dave Jackson
Hi William, Thanks for your post to the forum. I teach the General Education courses that usually do not involve "hands on " activities. In my Psychology class I added an experiment that students must design and complete. In my Cultural Diversity and Social Problems course we have debates and assignments that require students to find current events that involve the issues they are studying. In my Steps to Career Success class students must interview someone in their career field to discover how listening skills play a role in their jobs. I am always looking for ways to make their learning relevant.
