Asking Questions

When students come to my office to ask if they can change their schedule or they want to change the order of their curriculum I always present them with various questions as to why. However, I always make sure that my questions make them feel comfortable so they do not feel they are being intimidated or they inturn feel they are making the wrong decision.

I usually try to make a single question into a multistep answer if possible that seams to help the student reason out a response.

I agree that asking questions is a good way to have students look at things from a broader perspective and you do not need to do it in a form that could be considered offensive. Many times when I present a question to a student often I find that know one has ever asked the question or phrased the question that way to them before. This many times clarify things for the student so that they can now move on and make an informed decision.

I agree. What ever the environment we want the student to feel comfortable. When they are comfortable the student will be more free to ask questions and learn.
