teaching

you have to figure out ways to get the students involved

Couldnt agree more. It does no good to be an expert in any given field when the information one knows is "locked up" and "unreachable for the learners

Hi to Donald and Jean,
I think both of you have a great point. I think we really need to love teaching and be knowledgeable in your subject. I have seen many knowledgeable teachers but they don’t know how transfer the information to students and I also have seen teachers with less knowledge but they’re good at teaching.

It's best to know your subject and it's true that doesn't make you an effective teacher. You may know the subject well and can't teach or can't deliver the materials in an understanding and educational way to others.

Knowing your subject does not mean that you are an effective teacher. Understsnding learning techniques and how to use them enables one to become such a teacher. The use of questions helps you to evaluate if the students get it or not. I like the techniques stated in this course about questioning, this information is very useful. I use any and all teaching methods to get the subject matter across to my students. I found by mixing things up keeps them interested and I am able to address the different learn styles.
