Call-backs as question starters

I have found that the use of "call-backs" is an excellent way to prompt a question from the students. Then that can be expanded and messaged until the point is clear and understood by all.

It can also make it easier to go more indepth into a subject or move into a related subject that will continue the lesson.

I personally use "call backs" as a major way to ensure the understanding of the highly technical information I cover in my class. I have to make sure they absorb six weeks worth of information in three weeks. "Call backs" are a fast and effective way to measure understanding.

I couldn't agree more. I like to get them to recall what we just went over to see not only how much they absorbed but how they absorbed it. They may have gotten confused and I find it easier to correct now then later.
