Redirecting questions
I love using this technique in class, keeps students engaged, on their toes, and away from Facebook.
Most definitely. Redirecting students helps them to learn to be resourceful themselves. There is nothing worse than a class that is more focused on the social network on the screen in front of them than on the topic at hand. I am very strong in not allowing the computers to be used while we are actively discussing topics. Monitors must be off. To gain a positive response I incorporate active learning through group projects and discussions to keep their attention.
Hi Theodore- Thanks for your post to the forum. Yes, keeping students engaged in class does keep them from drifting off to places like Facebook! LOL! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
