I like to use questions to review relevant information, often times when discussing vocabulary or applied skills. It is a great way to continually incorporate and recall information from past lessons.

Questioning can be a good learning tool to see where the students are at and if they were not understanding the material. I also like asking questions to see how they think about the material in the context of their lives. My hope is to have the learning extend past the classroom.

Questioning can be used as an alternative to lecture. I find this much more enjoyable, and so do the students. I found this section very informative and helpful. I have always used questioning in my classes, and will be so much better at it after completing this module.

If you feel confident in the content of your questions and their relativity & appropriatness to the material, then the students scores can not only aid in determination of their progress/difficulties but also of the degree of your ability in teaching and instruction concerning the essence of your subjects.

Questioning sessions can be used as learning tools because it gives the instructor the opportunity to clarify or expand on the subject matter. When a student asks a question, most likely more than one student needs an answer to the same question. When instructors asks their students a question after teaching a topic, it helps the instructor to not only engage the students but helps the instructor assess the students' understanding of the topic.

Questioning students are used as learning tools in order to evaluate if they are able to comprehend and understand the newly acquired knowledge or lessons so that they will be able to apply it in new settings that they are exposed to.

Learning to ask enaging inquiry-based questions is a skill in itself and pays off by taking students to a higher-level of learning.

Hi David, Adding intermittent questions during lecture is very important. It helps us to see where students are confused before we go to far ahead. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Asking questions during my lectures has become part of my teaching style.

It's important for me to let students know if they have the wrong answer, it's ok. I do this day one in the way I ask questions. I often will direct a question to students that don't participate, by the end of class they are much more involved. It's all about making learning fun!!

As an instructed we need to ask ourselves what do we want the students to learn and why is this important to ourselves. We should not make too many assumption about a student but figure out strategies to help those students that are less willing to respond to questions that are asked.

Hi Charles, Your post to the forum definitely demonstrates that you understand the importance of questioning! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

In my situation I can use the questions to evaluate how much of the technical material I have covered has been absorbed.

Having questioning sessions and involving the majority of the class can let the instructor know if the lesson was understood. Asking thought provoking questions and creating a class discussion can determine if the information presented was perceived correctly before moving on to the next lesson.

Hi Janice, Thanks for sharing some excellent examples of how to improve participation. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

Questioning sessions can be used as learning tools when the instructor takes the time to develop pivotal questions that help students apply what they are learning to real life scenarios. The instructor’s questions help students develop or strengthen a connection between theory and practice.

Questioning sessions is an important part of the lesson plan. This is where the instructor know if the students get the lesson or not.

Hi Brian, Yes, questioning is vital to give direction to our lesson planning! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.
