motivation
Students feel motivated when they know how they are performing in the class. By doing daily and end of the course evaluation my students strive to do better than they did the day before
Hi Steve- Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree - we need to keep our students constantly aware of how they are progressing so that they can make the changes they need to succeed. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
They are a happy student, and a confident student. I have found that it is better for them to know where they stand, even if they are unhappy with it, because it motivates them, and pushes them harder. It also gives them a bench mark to try and surpass.
i agree the sooner you know the best way a student learns the faster and most effective methods of teaching can be applied and the succes of the students actuallly coming out of the class fulfilled and confident about what theyve learned and retained will be higher
Students are always curious about progress. I try to keep students aware of their progress. I post grades daily and quickly so they may access their portal to see current grades.
Competencies have worked well for me in evaluating both the student and myself.I can determine how much the student learned, and what I need to change in my delivery.
Nice post, Darryl, and I definitely agree. A student that is informed of their standing in the class is a happy student!
I agree with having the student know his position in the classroom because it gives them not only motivation but sometimes it helps their self esteem and builds their confidence if they are on the right track. It also gives you (the instructor) the opportunity to often work with the student with more attention whether ths student is having a hard time or is performing up to standard or above.
Knowing quickly and often how one is doing is always helpful in motivating a student.
