Evaluating Experimental Learning
Self Assessment and On Site Supevisor Assessment are important for an Evaluating Experiential Learning?
Hi Susan - Upon first reading your post I thought you were saying that students on externship should self assess their experience which I think is important. However, after a re-read, I think you were suggesting that students should do a self-assessment of their expectations before they start their externship, which is an excellent idea! Susan
I am interested in the idea that students should do a self-assessment of their experiential learning. The students I teach all do a final term of externship in a real workplace. We have always had the on-site supervisor do an evaluation (assessment) on which the student's grade is based. I think I might add a component of the student's self-assessment. Sometimes it seems as if the student is unsure of what they should get out of this learning experience; setting personal goals would force them to actually think about and plan for outcomes!
