Students need feedback
I have found that early and often assessment have yielded the best student outcomes.
I always tell a student when I feel they are doing a good job, or what they are doing is wrong and needs to be corrected. Every single day I will do this (I will not do this in front of the rest of the class, of course). I think most students need encouragement and guidance more than they'd like to admit.
Feedback creates a positive environment for both the students and instructor.
Feedback is important not only to students but to the instructor as well. Used in a positive manner it can motivate a person and help focus them to be the best they can be.
Hi Michael - Very good observation! I have also seen this over and over. The more attention and feedback we provide, the more engaged our students will be. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I have found that the more feedback I give a student the more likely they are to participate in the class.
I agree that students need to be given feedback as often as possible to help keep them interested in the topics and discussion.
