feedback

feedback is important but also how it is delivered.....tone

Feedback is extremely important both for the instructor and the student. I often try and engage the students to assess their level of understanding and interest in the material being presented. It is very important that the instructor always have a positive and helpful attitude with the students.

Student feeback is very instrumental in finding out where a gap may appear in delivery. I try very hard to allow the students 24 hours to render the suggestions, etc.

I have observed some teachers that deliver feedback in a way that minimizes the students experience. Having experienced it also with peers when I was a student I vowed not to repeat that behavior. Motivated students I have taught often seek feedback. Keeping the tone upbeat and inspiring is my personal goal.

And at our school, students really appreciate when I post grades within 24 hours on the portal... they won't get their papers back until the next week's class, but at least they know what they got.

Hi Leea- Thanks for your post to the forum. Feedback for all students is essential. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Suan

Feedback is appropriate even for adults. Sometimes we forget that everyone likes to be praised.

Exactly! students need constant feedback and need to know if what they are doing is good or not and if not, how to improve or how did they get the facts mixed up in their head!
