Learning Styles
When we (instructors) take a moment to learn and implement the various learning styles it shows our students that we are engaged in their learning
This has been recently reinforced for me as I have just completed some mandatory CE 2 weeks ago which kept me in the classroom for the better part of a week. Although the content was fascinating, I chose it and wanted to be there, hour after hour of lecture especially in a dark room has a mind numbing effect.
Hi Joanne- Thanks for your post to the forum. I liked your analogy of diverse learning styles to all the other student diversities! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I agree that using various learning styles will engage the students in the learning process. Also, it makes the class less boring. By using visual, written, auditory & kinestic modes of learning, I think this offers a variety of flavors to the students. Also,by using these various modes of learning, this will help the instructor in teaching students who have different learning styles. Just as we have students with many different cultural; social, phyiscal and mental backgrounds,we have students with different learning backgrounds, too.
Hi Sylvia- I so agree with you! Yes, it takes effort on our part to move out of our own comfort styles and accomodate the learning styles of our students, but it is so worthwhile! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
