Testing & assessment

I provide my students with a studyguide prior to the exam so that they can study efficiently. Some instructor may think that there is no reason to test students even you are giving them the information for the exam, prior to the exam. I am still assessing their knowledge of the material. I may tell them for example, how sociologists define gender socialization. However on the exam, the question is a case study that they must label as such. They also have essay questions that they must complete in written format. This also assesses their understanding of the course content by explaining it through written format and applying to their life with the use of a persoanl example. It works well, and I am confident that they have a good understanding of the material.

during my lessons , i emphasize on the important points which are high yield exam questions and i teach students how to understand the information provided rather than memorizing especially in the medcal field. My testing and assessment is usually created based on the overall knowledge i've provided

Hi Michael, I find that using rubrics also makes the job of grading easier. Susan

Hi Marlene,

I do the same. I give my students a rubric for each project and exam. This way they know exactly how many points each assignment/question is worth and a clear guideline to my expectations which will allow them to stay within the parameters of the assignment.

Hi Marlene, You are moving your students from mere memorization to critical thinking skills which is excellent. Susan
