it is good for students to self evaluate
Student self evaluation will allow them to determine not only their weaknesses but also heir strengths.They can now cultivate their areas of strengths and mend their weaknesses . This will develop their self confidence and be more educationally involved with their classmates and be team oriented.
In response to your post. I agree with the concept of self-evaluate their strengths and weakness in the course. It makes the instructor want to reflex on turning the student weakness into strength.
The students can also work with another student who are strong in the areas of the course content to help then understand the materials.

Hi Jennifer, Thanks for your post to the forum. I agree, self evaluation is very valuable. In an online class that I teach for Freshman, my students learn about learning syles and study skills. In their online discussions it is wonderful to see how helpful and supportive they are with each other! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

I like having my students self evaluate to cetermine their strengths & weaknesses are.... It makes it easier for them to recieve constructive critisism from myself & their classmates... I have the students verbalize to their classmates areas they feel they need help, so they learn to work & help each other as a team
