Visual Learners
It is good to have visual examples, models, or power points because I have notice when people decided to go to school they are tapping into a field they no idea about. With that being said students need a visual to connect with
I strongly agree to using visual examples in the classroom. Students grasp the idea more if it is presented to them. They become more excited, focused , and involved in the process.
Hi Latisha,
I agree 100 percent. As instructors we want to go a mile a minute if we teach a technical subject. Our message and learners can get lost when our words don't conjour up an internal image in the brain of the person doing the hearing. Take a brake shoe for example, if you have never seen a brake shoe someone could hand you a spatula and if you had never seen a spatula you may believe them if the presenter came across as credible.
A lot of the students that sign up for Career Focused courses or "Trade" per say, are visual learners. In the field of Cosmetology; the majority of students are visual and kinesthetic (hands on). The Visual aids are very important and help bring the connection when the student actually performs the hands on assignments.
I also think visual aid are important when in class settings to keep students interested and have a better understanding.
I toaltaly agree!! visual ideas and concepts work great especially for new learners. I weld for a living so I have to run demos of the process for the students. They see the product and have to try to repeat it.
Hi Deborah, Thanks for your post to the forum. No question - when we can give hands on examples, we demonstrate the relevance of what our students are learning! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career.

It is also good to have hands on examples to connect all information learner after a lecture or powerpoint.
Absolutely! Those visual aids must also be accompanied by a thorough verbal explanation as well.
using visual aids will help rienforce the contents of the subject matter because they actually can see it and will remember better versus reading
I agree, I find that most students that are visual learners tend to retain more information and are able to apply what they learned in a positive way and are eager to learn more.
Visuals are an awesome wat to engage students. They heighten attention and excitement and help students to retain information.
It might be said that college students are in the formal thinking level and that they have the ability for abstraction. With diverse student background and orientation, it is proven more beneficial for them to have visuals that they can manipulate in which abstracts become tangible. The learning process of discovering the abstracts themselves from these tangible objects produces a lasting impression on what they have learned, and it also makes more sense to them to figure out what is the most correct answer to end up with.
