Assessment VS Testing
Would'nt it be better to assess a student rather than test them.
Assessment is a better choice in a skill task because the skill and all associated actions can be viewed and critiqued. Unfortunately this requires much direct supervision and leave students not being evaluated sitting around waiting for their turn. But Testing should be used to check the universal requirements for the task at hand. Even this can be a problem because a student have learned the words to the process but not how to actually do the required skill.
It's always good to assess the students learning and also to use tests in in conjonctions but tests are not the final answers to that, we should personally asses the studemts learning via our own observations and also determine the students learning styles to deliver our instruction with better accomodations.
Testing is a form of assessment and students are disapointed wheh they are not tested regularly
If we fill our lesson plans with several different formative evaluations we would be assessing students along their learning path and then create an objective summative evaluation (test) at the end we will serve the leners as well as satisfy the reqirements of accrediting bodies; proving mastery of content.
yes i think it will be better assess because you can follow the real progres instead a do a superficial test on the one they can just study only to pas the test
