Mixing Tests

I think using different tests throughout the course would be most beneficial as it will cater to all types of students and their testing abilities.

I like mixing the tests up too. It gives each method of learning a chance and it makes each student think. I put TF, multiple choice etc. on each test just to keep them on their feet. I do tend to use multiple choice most.

We use a multiple choice test for the final grade but I laike to use a veriety of wrok sheets for reviewing the material. I often use completion questions that follow the course material as well as Cross Words and Matching Terms. These provide multiple ways for the students to review the material on their own and for my to guage how well they have grasped the concepts.

We use multiple choice questions to check for student understanding of content. We run multiple versions of the tests at test time to discourage students copying answers from each other. At the course end, the student is evaluated on his ability to perform seleted hands on tasks to check the student's competency and understanding of the course. The final testing takes time to administer and grade but is a better way of testing competencey than through multiple choice testing.

I agree. Using different test methods can cover your learning types, although I use more multiple choice questions than any other method.

In a particular course that I teach there are 24 modules in a 48 week period. I like to use almost all of the different forms of testing and quizzing in all the modules trying to keep them short except for the final( which is multiple choice)
