grading

We return the test back to the students right after they take it to go over the scores and the questions. Is this a good practice or should it be done on a individule basis.

I think a post test review is a teachable moment! Often those students who had the correct answer will have questions about the answer - perhaps they made an educated guess and would like more clarification. Reviewing also reinforces the information and can lead to Q/A about the application of newly learned information.

How do you handle students who may consistantly do poorly on tests but do not approach you to ask questions?

When I hand the tests back to the students I tend to let them look over the tests and discover the questions they gort wrong on their own. There are usually a few that come ask questions, but most know the answers to the ones they got wrong.

Hi Dan - it's perfectly fine to go over the test as a group. However if a student has been making a speciic error repeatedly you would want to speak with them individually.
