Bad Tests
How should you deal with an instructor who is allways changeing test? Does this affect hoe the students percieve the overall class?
I totally agree that we need to do something to prevent sharing answers. Changing the order of the questions on multiple choice and true/false tests greatly reduces this possibility. If you are writing new questions, they should be based off of the course objectives.
Lets go one step further, how about test with the most wright answer or trick wording in a question. And it may still be the most wright answer.
Changing the test format or the order of the exams is a method that I have used in the past to keep exam question sharing from happening from class to class. However, I do focus on making sure that the core of the material being tested remain the same as that covered during the class period.
Changing tests is a good and a bad thing especially if the content is changing from one test to another. If the test is not the same from class session to class session it is less likely that there will be sharing of answers from class to class.
Then there is the emphisis that each instructor places on certian information. Does the new test test on the "important" subject matter
When you have some one who is for all practical purposes changing or re-writing tests and quizes it will change the what the students get out of the class, if it not supported by the cirriculem. now, if you have mulitpule test so that now can cheat. That is, in my opinion. Allowable.
If by changing you mean rewording the questions or even changing the questions entirely from one class session to another, what would be the problem? Doesn't everyone try to have different versions of written quizes and tests?
If the exact same ones are used, aren't we just testing the ability of our students to contact fromer students for insight or clues into the test's content? And, if a question is less effective than originally thought, should we just keep using it?
I find that spelling mistakes in a test can be most distractive to the attentive studii.
you should first question the instructor to see if he has a valid piont or just inexperienced. sometimes new or older instructors will be challenging as a way to gain knowledge rather than ask, easier on the ego and more macho. find a way to find out more about his actual background. this can be done questioning his challenges or talking shop to find his actual depth and background. if done in a professional and friendly manner you may gain some insite ofhim and he may become your best student and possibly a friend. sometimes instructors who lackcertain traits are just seeking help and are to proud or scared to ask. you have a problem. you are an instructor. find an avenue in which to solve it. this may be the one. treat him like you would a troubled or challenging student. good luck.
Yes one class may get better grades than another.
What do you mean by "changing the tests"?
