Same question multiple times on an exam
Is it unfair to ask the same question more than one time on an exam?
I have found that wording can give away the answer to both questions.
Our lessons are very subjective, sometimes the same technique can have two different outcomes. I don;'t think it is unfair if it reinforces the techniques.
It is not unfair to ask a same question several times during an exam. However, the wording of the question should be different from the original, but different enough to test knowledge of the concept.
I believe it is fair. Sometimes it reinforces their understanding of a subject. You know if the just memorized something long enough to remember it on a test or actually undedrstand the subject.
I teach a subject that have a lot of facts to be memorized. Some of the subjects are more important than others. I think that the important ones need to be reinforced.
I can see some value to asking a question twice on a test. I have given out a test before where there was a mistake, and there were a couple of repeats. I was surprised to see how many times the question was answered differently, the people that really understood got it right twice and the ones who did not split the difference by giving different answers.
I don't think that it is unfair if the qwestions have multiple answers or more than one topic.two qwestions on a test could realy back up the grasp of a students knoldge of the topic.
HI Jennifer - welcome to Ed 103! I don't think that asking the same question twicw on an exam is unfair;I just wonder why you would do so? Best wishes! Susan
I have asked the same question more than once. Stated a little different. If it is something that needs to be reinforced I feel its a good way to do that
