EVALUATION

Subjective evaluation is probably the best but also the most difficult to "fairness". Attitude as well as time of day affect this type of grading.

I agree. It is helpful to examine all student's tests before deciding on points for each answer. I think it helps to establish a baseline from which to proceed.

I find it helpful to examine all students' tests before deciding on points to give on each answer. The tests have mostly short answer questions. There is risk of curving without intention which I keep in mind. I'm not opposed to curving though, especially with tests that are freshly written and not previously 'tested' on large groups. When practical, I make a first award of points and put away the review for a day. Returning, even a matter of hours later, usually has me clear on what to do.
